In looking at the CT of the head, it is easier if there is a systematic approach. Always look from outside to inside to aid your view of the CT head. You may start from the soft tissue outside of the skull, muscle particularly at the temporal region. Then skull --> dura --> arachnoid --> pia. Be alert of the spaces in between as well (extradural, subdural and subarachnoid spaces)

It is good to know the normal CT of the head beforehand and compare both sides.However, do not that there may be a tilt of the head during CT, so try to compare the eyeballs at the orbit level. They should be on the same plane if there is no tilt. Otherwise, the tilt may cause some confusion as to where the abnormality lies in.
